Access comes first: Binance takes no new EU/EEA users since 1 July 2026, pays UK users no rebate and does not serve the US. Coinbase serves all three through local entities.

Binance: not for new EU/EEA users since 1 July 2026, no rebate for UK users, not available in the US.

How Binance vs Coinbase was compared

Four criteria, each checked on the operators’ own pages: trading fees at the entry tier, with Binance’s BNB discount and the PRM26 rebate shown as separate steps; availability in the EEA, the UK and the US, with licence status from ESMA’s register and Coinbase’s regional user agreements; fiat rails and card costs, only where a figure is published; and products, only where a page describes them. Binance pays this site a commission; Coinbase does not.

Perpetual futures are leveraged: a small price move against you can liquidate the position and lose the entire margin.

The two Binance discounts multiply rather than add: 1 minus 0.75 times 0.8 is a 40% saving on spot, not 45%. The PRM26 rebate is 20% of spot and margin fees for the life of the account, up to 20% of futures fees for 12 months from the day the futures account is opened (the share depends on the referrer’s tier), paid hourly in USDC and credited within six hours. It is calculated on net fees after maker rebates and stops once the account reaches VIP 3.

Coinbase’s Advanced help page shows its own fee table only after sign-in; the 0.40% / 0.60% entry tier above is the Coinbase Exchange schedule, whose order book executes Coinbase trades from the primary balance. Simple buys cost more than the order-book rate: the quoted price includes a spread, and simple limit orders carry a 1% execution fee plus a Coinbase fee the disclosures page gives as 1.875%, varying by payment method.

Binance vs Coinbase: the verdict by residence

In the EEA. Coinbase. Binance accepts no new EU/EEA users and is not on ESMA’s register; Coinbase Luxembourg S.A. is, for 30 EEA states. Use Coinbase (no affiliate link) or another venue from our list of MiCA-licensed exchanges.

In the UK and the US. Coinbase again. CB Payments Ltd is registered with the FCA and Coinbase, Inc. serves US residents, while Binance pays UK users no rebate and binance.com is not available in the US.

Elsewhere, for example in Switzerland. On fees the pick is Binance, our affiliate partner, with PRM26: 0.10% spot against Coinbase’s 0.40% / 0.60%, or 0.06% with BNB and the rebate.

Our pick, and the interest behind it. Binance pays us a commission if you register through our link, and it wins on fees where it is open. Coinbase, which pays us nothing, wins on access in all three regions compared. In the EEA and the US you cannot open a Binance account; in the UK Binance is not authorised for retail customers and PRM26 pays nothing.

Binance vs Coinbase: common questions

Is Binance cheaper than Coinbase?
On spot, where you can use it: 0.10% maker and taker against 0.40% / 0.60% at Coinbase’s entry tier (Coinbase Exchange schedule, read 23 September 2026). On 10,000 USD traded as a taker that is 10 USD against 60 USD, or 6 USD on Binance with BNB and PRM26.
Can EU or EEA residents choose Binance over Coinbase?
Not for a new account. Binance withdrew its MiCA application on 24 June 2026 and stopped EU/EEA sign-ups, trading and deposits on 1 July 2026; existing accounts can withdraw. Coinbase Luxembourg S.A. is authorised by the CSSF and listed for 30 EEA states in ESMA’s register.
Which of the two serves UK residents?
Coinbase, through CB Payments Ltd, which is registered with the FCA for cryptoasset activities; its UK agreement limits futures and perpetuals to professional clients. Binance is not authorised for UK retail customers, and UK users receive no referral incentive, so PRM26 gives them nothing.
How does PRM26 change the Binance side of this comparison?
It rebates 20% of spot and margin fees until VIP 3, and up to 20% of futures fees for 12 months, paid hourly in USDC. With the 25% BNB discount, spot falls from 0.10% to 0.06%, a 40% saving. It widens Binance’s fee lead but changes nothing about access.
What does a simple buy on Coinbase cost?
More than the order-book rate. Simple buys include a spread in the quoted price; simple limit orders add a 1% execution fee and a Coinbase fee the disclosures page gives as 1.875%, varying by payment method. The order preview shows the total before you confirm.
